I go to a certain Saddlebred show at the Red Mile every year for at least one night because I obviously forget how upset it makes me. Saddlebreds are an athletic, kind and magnificent breed that will make you stop midstride to watch them go by. So why do people have to f up their natural beauty with tail sets, overchecks, padded shoes, tongue ties, severe bits and frantic riding and driving styles. No one looks happy...so what is the point of it all.

We had a great drive tonight. I wanted to try the Pacific training cart on Odessa and despite being on my own, gave it a go. O. stood their patiently while I got everything adjusted and off we went without any problems. Did some dressage work in the arena and then decided to do a lap around the farm.

After the cattle operation moooved on down the road a few years ago, Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill has been working to restore their fields to native grasses and wildflowers. The fields are starting to show how spectacular the views will be once all of the hurdles like uncooperative weather and invasive plants are behind them.
On Saturday Freddie, Noah and I enjoyed a wonderful drive and the flowers and blackberries were beautiful and delicious.

TJ and I had a wonderful time this past weekend at the Metamora CDE. For those of you that have not been to Metamora, MI, it is horse country to die for. The wide dirt roads, rolling hills, beautiful old barns and unique and beautiful homes make this area very special. We stayed at the new and highly recommended Crooked House Farm B&B which was just a few miles down the road from the CDE. Janine, Charlie, Junior and Fred all made us feel very welcome.
