Light, durable, good looking and well built.

They are designed to be a strong lightweight 4-wheel marathon vehicle that can be set up for ponies or horses.  We use torsion axles on all four wheels instead of springs for a smooth ride.  Standard shafts are independent short shafts with an open loop (can be closed at customer request) and have 6" of adjustment in length in 1 1/2" increments.  The pole is supported by a shock absorber and the end has 12" of adjustment in 3" increments.

As with all 'Hideout' vehicles, the wheels have roller bearings. The wheels also have grease fittings so that the wheels may be greased without removing them from the axle.

The standard drivers' wedge gives the customers an option of how much slant is given to the wedge. It is adjustable but not on glider tracks. The adjustment comes by loosening four bolts. A bench seat is also available.

These vehicles can be left unpainted. If they are to be painted all the parts are sanded before welding. When all assemblies and parts are done they are sent to a powder coating shop, brought back, and the vehicle is then assembled.

This is only the 3rd 4 wheel I have ever driven so view my opinion with that in mind. Other than the fact that it's a bit short for my 17h Percheron mare, I love it. I bought it because I wanted a lot of flexibility. It was light weight enough to work on both my smaller horse/large pony and my big mare (with a bit of alteration). I have never once felt like I would flip and I take in places I probably shouldn't...tight turns, very uneven terrain, etc. There is really a lot of flexibility to the carriage and I have plans to make some additional modifications to make it more showy for dressage. I love the navigators area. With the great flat wheel covers/seats I have had 3 people on and off the back as we went on a trail ride/drive. I also navigated at the prelim level off of a PJ and did not notice anything being in the way or layed out weird. The Hideout is a small workshop on the owners property and because of the small operation there is almost a year waiting list so be prepared to wait a bit to get your carriage, but don't let that deter you from buying one. I gave a 2 on the comfort because I really prefer a much snugger seat. I find myself bashing into the sides which is uncomfortable. I think the seat might be a bit better for a behind bigger than mine. :-)
