The Lexington CDE at the Kentucky Horse Park was another huge success as the organizers prepare for the World Equestrian Games in 2010.
I groomed/navigated for the 2008 FEI World Championship for Drivers with Disabilities Gold Medal winner Meghan Benge and her pair of Section A Welsh ponies-Bert and Ernie. I also helped Randy and Keady Cadwell with their horses as well as groomed for Rachel Nicely and her pair of Fresian/Saddlebred crosses in Preliminary Pairs Horse dressage and cones.
Rachel won her division despite an issue with her right horse 10 minutes before dressage. We fixed that situation and Rachel went into her Zen mode and got through her test. Amy was elated after their marathon run and Rachel had some of the fastest hazards on the marathon. Rachel sealed the blue ribbon with an outstanding drive in cones.
Megan went into cones in second place and missed winning the overall by .37 points but won the marathon and cones sections.
Keady was also in second place going into cones, but had a solid cones round and won her FEI Pair Division.
Randy had issues with the number 1 at this show and eliminated herself in the first hazard and knocked the first ball down in cones. Her pony is only 5 though so he's still learning the ropes. I don't believe I really knew how fast the FEI division went in the hazards and to me it looked like she was flying.
I met a lot of great people and had fun with the Tremont Farm team. Thanks to everyone for a great show.
Rachel, Romeo and I are off to Pine Tree in two weeks for another CDE. I can't wait.
