We are fortunate to live in one of the most beautiful areas of the Bluegrass. The appeal is inspired by many things like great road access, breathtaking views, peace and quite, wonderful local treasures like Shakertown, and especially because of a man named Ralph G. Anderson. Over the years Mr. Anderson put together a 5500 acre farm of beauty. As a native of Harrodsburg, the rumor was that he invested in Mercer County as a way to continue to support and be a part of the community. While I never met him personally, instances of his generosity can be seen throughout the county.
After Ralph G. Anderson's death in Feb of 2010, we all hoped the beauty of Anderson Circle Farm would be neverending.
On November 16, 2011, Anderson Circle Farm will be sold in 54 tracts by Schrader Auction Company. Aside from the headline that it's to be the "Land Auction Event of the Year", I will be attending so I can get a glimpse of the new owner of the farm...note the singular reference. We've been fortunate, and it would be wonderful if the majority of the farm could remain as it is.
