My friend Marion doesn't have a Whomping Willow tree, she has a Bombing Hedge Apple tree and I have the bruises to prove it.
After a 17K ride with O. at Shakertown on Saturday, I decided to go ahead and push her and took her to Marion's to work on some dressage away from the house. It was a short session and O. was great. Despite the fact that it was gusting 25mph winds, she put in a very steady and nice dressage test in Marion's newly setup 40x80 dressage arena. Thank you Rob.
During one of the trips to the barn a hedge apple came barreling down into my lap and scared the heck out of me. Odessa didn't jump too far when I yelped in surprise and pain thank goodness. Those things seriously hurt so the moral of this story is don't walk under a hedge apple tree with fruit on it especially when it's really windy out. I can only image what would have happened if it had hit Odessa or someone in the head without a helmet on.

... Ouch...you also have a hedge apple tree on your trail around the property, I think. |
