Who can believe that there is no soul behind those luminous eyes! (Theophile Gautier)
Last night we received a call from our house sitter that Congo had apparently fallen shortly after she had gotten there and couldn't get up. She sat with him until we got home about 30 minutes later. He was alert but definitely not weight bearing on his left leg.
X-Rays this morning confirmed that his left hip was dislocated and despite several attempts to put the joint back, it would not stay in place. With surgery being his only option and his ever growing list of medical issues, we decided to lay him to rest.
After almost 14 years of seeing his wonderful face every day, words cannot express how much he will be missed. He is buried on the hill overlooking the farm next to Kally and Shep.
