Things are still going well at the house despite the lack of power. We awoke to temps in the house in the mid 40's but we were cozy under the covers last night and things were really quite pleasant when I came back in from feeding the horses. The generator was running (coffee) as well as the kerosene heater.
The generator we are using has the ability to run 220 so we decided to go into town to pick up some wire and a different plug for that project as well as join Fred and Louise (the wife) for lunch and to check on them. We took our smaller generator over so they could recharge Thelma (the golf cart) while we visited. One the way to their house we went by two National Guard groups working on cutting down branches hanging over the road.
After the delicious lunch and a walk about the farm, we headed home. We met a fire truck coming out with it's lights on but not looking like they were in a hurry and pulled over to let them pass. Come to find out they had gone back to our house to check on us. They stopped at the gate (could see the foot prints) because of the 6 dogs probably giving them the eye and instead left a note on the truck to call them. We did and said thanks. I thought it was great that they were checking on people and that so many people were out working to clear the roads.
We also just got a call from our neighbor about 1.5 miles up the road and they now have power so maybe getting things back online won't take that long. Thanks to everyone that is working non-stop to get the power restored!!
