Woodsmith Farm

offering high quality cattle, horses, and service

Dixie Bell, Flying, Horses

Since I just can't get into Facebook, I feel compelled to post what happens on the farm here.

After work on Friday I met TJ at Marion's house where we videoed her cute Connemara/TB cross Quincy free jumping as he is for sale.  We then took the Bean out and drove her around the farm for her first home place drive.  She was wonderful as always.  Robbie burgers for dinner.  Yum!

Saturday morning started out with the usual..barn chores, driving and a lot of cleaning.  I cleaned feed buckets, feed cans, the barn, the stalls, the waterer, horse blanets, leg wraps, the bathrooms, etc.  I was in a cleaning frenzy.  TJ and Rob went flying.  Finally around 3 I ran into town to pick up some stuff and then hurried over to try and catch the Shakertown Dixie Bell.  I've been wanting to see what the Dixie was about because she almost died this spring after getting knocked loose in a flood.  The crazy boat captains were able to get on board the loose boat, start the engines and pull her around before she rammed into the bridge on 68...28 tons of steel smashing into the bridge wouldn't have been a good thing and we are glad the Dixie lived to see another day.  Through no fault of the boat's, the trip was a warm one but very worth the $10.  The views of High Bridge and the Palisades were beautiful and the narration informative...who knew Kentucky had so many species of fish...only second to Alabama I believe.

6:45 Sunday morning we had Justin the bull loaded in the trailer and back at the farm for an inspection of his swollen left foot. Poor kid had a pretty good cut between his toes so he got a shot in the butt.  At 8:30 I had Dessa loaded and we were on our way to Marion's.  Rob rode with me and Marion was by herself with the Bean as we drove around their farm.  I don't know what was going on amongst all of the girls but there was some competition going on...Dessa and Bean kept trying to race and I think Marion and Erin kept trying to race.  It almost got out of control a few times.  Good thing Bean is such a good girl.

After driving we rode a bit with Marion's friend Lisa, jumped a few little jumps with Marion's horses Conor and Quincy.  I am so out of shape.  Think I got dehydrated so when I got home I took a three hour nap.

TJ spent the day building a great box for the trailer.  It will be a step for the nose and storage box for the winch and other stuff.  Thanks T.
