I'm finally catching up on my blogging after a whirlwind of horse events and weekends out of town working.
First to mention is the Kentucky Classic CDE and the National Drive which both took place at the Kentucky Horse Park the weekend of Oct. 7-9. With over 300 drivers on the grounds there was some initial concern over having both of these events on the same weekend. I personally never noticed any congestion and found that it was a lot of fun to be able to visit with some of my National Drive friends and have their support at the CDE.
Because I wasn't showing, I groomed for Rachel Niceley of Riverplains Farm in the Intermediate Pair Horse division. This was her first time out since having Zsa Zsa 8 months ago and the first time out for one of her young horses who she was using on the marathon. The girls were pretty good in dressage and cones started out well, but as we were coming to the second cone I could see that Rachel was forgetting the RED on RIGHT mantra, and she went through 2 backwards. Rachel was in first after dressage, but with the E in cones, she was out of the ribbons. Being that this was Chase's first official show, it was probably good that the pressure was off him for the marathon.
So the rest of the show was spent driving Odessa, taking pictures and hanging out. It was a really nice weekend and this is a show that I will definitely look forward to next year.
