Today was the short, hilly and tough Lame Duck Sprint Triathlon in Georgetown, KY.
Before we started out on the .52 mile swim, we were pontooned across the lake for a pre-race meeting and a round of the chicken dance which come to find out is a Lame Duck tradition.
The swim went much better than Taylorsville Lake and there were no freak outs this time. The water temp was in the 90s so it got pretty warm, but other than that and my hand brushing against something rough (not a person), I felt good.
Mallard Point is a very hilly neighborhood...one person even joked before the swim that they thought the lake looked like it was pointed uphill, so the bike and run were challenging. I didn't have as much power and stamina on the hills as I normally do, so while it was okay, it wasn't one of my best rides. On the run I finally quit psyching myself out about the hills and motored along.
I ended up 2nd in my age group and I believe I was something like 10th overall amongst the women.
The Lame Duck is a really nice, very well run, friendly event.
