Two things that are really intriguing me at this moment are that it's finally rained after months and months of being in a drought and that I am working with like 10 different technologies as I sit here at work.
So the rain thing...our farm went from brown and barren to green and living in a matter of 1 day. It was incredible. I find myself wanting to garden and landscape now that it seems worth it. TJ was kind enough to not only go buy the wood chips for the sidewalk and back of the house, but he also unloaded it today while I slaved away at work and he was on vacation. Tomorrow AM the plans are to relocate some large bushes and make the house look less overwhelmed with foliage.
And the technology thing...I am putting 4 new servers online this weekend and reformating 1. I will have 14TB of storage on it and the other 3 will be part of a Deltek Vision upgrade. The rebuilt one will give some of the divisions more space as the engineering projects will be moving to the 17TB server which will house our active and archived projects as well as provide backup to disk storage. I am also upgrading all of the Symantec BackupExec software to 12.5 and I am testing out Server 2008 64bit for the first time...oh yeah, I am also playing with the VMWare Server technology. Next week I have another 16TB server that will go live after the new Spectralogic T50e LTO backup tape hardware arrives. So like I said, there is a lot going on and I feel like my brain is a tornado of information just ready to hit its centrifugal max and fly off the radar.
While I love the technology part of my life, it keeps me from doing the other love of my life which is spending time with my horses and my husband. After our morning bush digging adventure, TJ will be spending the day with Fred driving at Shakertown while I copy files. Major bummer for me and a lot of fun for him.
