Mom and Dad drove up for Thanksgiving. We had a good time eating, drinking and really appreciating family and how lucky we are.
TJ and I ran over to Shakertown for a ride/drive with Emma and Will on Friday for a Spokes and Spurs get together while Mom and Dad did a quick tour. On Saturday we went back over to Shakertown and watched the Woodford Hounds Blessing of the Hounds. While I am not keen on running around killing things for sport, the concept of the whole process based on it's origins is intriguing and to watch that many people follow a pack of dogs across a field is impressive.
Darwin and Spivey were a major source of entertainment for the weekend. As I write this Spivey is sticking his paw in my bowl of popcorn and grabbing a piece and throwing it down to the dogs. He also has a crazy fascination with my computer screen. He watches the monitor intensely and acts like he's really contemplating what he's seeing. He keeps looking on the other side of the laptop monitor trying to understand the scope of the monitor. Weird. And now he just sat on the TV remote and changed the channel. This cat is high energy! He snagged Mom with a claw on Sunday so I have decided this needs to stop so we are working on his compulsion to attack everything.
Darwin did give me the "I've had enough of this" fit this weekend though and he had a bit of a meltdown. I chose to ignore him and walk away to let him cool off instead of picking a fight. He was leaping in the air and really wanted out but he wasn't ugly or aggressive. His poor mom gets the brunt of his frustration but she seems to handle it well and most of the time he's pretty calm. I spent a while with him tonight working with a plastic garbage bag and then giving him a good rub down. He enjoys a good scratch.
So, it's been a good week. We are thankful for family, friends, each other and our 4 legged friends.
I have to go because I hear Spivey trying to turn the water bowl over...

... Update, Erin is going fox hunting after Christmas. I have been promised that there will be no killing. Rachel told me their dogs are bred to be slow so they never catch anything. I am going to be gullible and believe her but I will be mortified if we actually kill something. Running through the woods on the horses and watching the dogs is the fun part, not the killing. |

... The water bowl was empty and he wanted me to refill it, hence the commotion with the bowl. This cat is either really, really smart or just lucks into doing seemingly smart things. |
