What I did today (a typical day)
Fed 5 horses hay and grain
Cleaned 2 stalls and raked barn aisle
Moved 3 bales of hay from hay barn to main barn
Put Gina and Bob in outside pen
Filled downstairs dog bowls with food and water
Gave cats food upstairs and downstairs
Bench pressed 2 sets, 1 set of curls
50 situps
Put water in Odessa's beet pulp for PM feeding
Filled Congos water
Mixed yogurt and Shen Calmer for Congo and fed him
Told him he is a good boy
Inhaled breakfast while trying to deflect the cat's paw from dipping into my cereal bowl.
Took shower
Shaved legs
Put antifrizz stuff on hair and attempted to make it look not frizzy
Makeup
Get dressed-I actually match today
Pull running clothes out of dryer and put clothes/shoes in gym bag
Poor coffee into travel mug
Pack myself and my crap out to the truck
Forget coffee and go back to retrieve it
Check email while driving 45 minutes into work-terrible I know. I have to stop this.
Get a call that a server is down
Get to work and zoom into server room to see what's up-reboot server with hopes it reboots
Not liking error messages I am seeing after reboot
Backup software is not happy and won't restart-need to fix this ASAP
Check other servers and see issues related to today's server stall that started to appear after Sunday's AC outage and subsequent mass server shutdown. Stressing
Spec'ed and ordered new power workstation after researching hardware requirements
Try to fix an application on RDP server...got side tracked and had to cancel working on it
Sent out 60 emails through out the day responding to various questions and requests
Printed out invoices and processed 15 POs that are due and turned into accounting
Filled out Expense report and turned into accounting
Organized and attended a 1 hour class on how to use the office phones and voicemail
Replaced a users broken phone
Freaking out that I haven't had a chance to fix or even look at the server issues
4:30-had plans to go run, take a shower at the YMCA and come back to work to look at servers but instead get a call that a remote office has lost power.
Waited until office is back online and start checking remote office servers. 1 server is back online, 1 must still be powered down (everyone that could turn it back on decided to leave, argh) and the third has a crappy piece of software on it that everyone uses heavily and now isn't working right.
Tried a few things to no avail and called crappy software tech support
Called house sitter to setup visit to the house before vacation next week
7:00pm EST, waiting on crappy software tech support to call
After venting through the blog, I am going to look at servers and try to fix RDP server application

... It's 11:15 and while I fixed the application on the RDP server and got the crappy software running again...the server issues are still there and I am stressing. I have a date with Microsoft tomorrow. |
