Key West 2010

I'm not sure who's idea it was, but TJ, Trevor, Wendy, Roger and I all recently ran a half marathon (13.1 miles) in Key West.  At the time we commited to the run a week in the tropics sounded like a great idea.  Who knew training during a KY and Seattle winter would be so challenging.   Trevor, TJ, Roger, and I schlepped through mile after mile in snow, ice, rain, wind and freezing temps.  Wendy, who is now living in the Keys, trained in 70-80 degrees and sunshine all the while tanning as she ran.  Can you pick out Wendy?

Can't wait for CDE Season

The most recent span of relatively warm weather has given me the CDE season itch.  I was able to do some riding and driving this past week and it was so great to get back in touch with a horse instead of only pounding the pavement.  The Key West Half Marathon that TJ, my brother, uncle, vet and co-worker and myself are all running will be over and done with in 11 days.  Yeah.

Kentucky Pond Hockey

The most recent January cold spell has brought about a unique experience for a group of Northern born Kentucky transplants - Kentucky Pond Hockey.

On Saturday and Sunday guys from Ohio, Canada and Michigan gathered at the farm of a good friend to enjoy hours of wide open pond hockey.  No helmets, no pads, beer, tuques and Carhartts put a big smile on the faces of these guys as they skated on a type of ice not normally found in Kentucky.

Lead an Ass to Water

Since Facebook won't let me post this picture and I find it amusing, here it is.  I found this when I typed in "lead a horse to water".  I don't know who the photographer was but if you are that person is and want photo credits, just let me know.

Can anyone blame this donkey for not wanting to jump into the trash filled pond.

Pacific Navigator Platform for Sale

Rear navigator platform for Pacific Training cart for sale.  Purchased new in 2006 and used in 1 show and for a few months around the farm.  Moved to a 4 wheel for everyday driving and I only use the Pacific for young horses and presentation.  It's been kept inside and is in good condition.  New they are $595 plus shipping and tax.  I am asking $500. Woodford Hounds Blessing

Over 70 riders rode in the 2009 Woodford Hounds Blessing of the Hounds hunt held on November 28th, 2009 at Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill.  The vivid colors of the huntsman and horses could be seen winding their way across the Shaker Village property.  It was impressive to watch.
