TJ and I had a wonderful time this past weekend at the Metamora CDE.   For those of you that have not been to Metamora, MI, it is horse country to die for.  The wide dirt roads, rolling hills, beautiful old barns and unique and beautiful homes make this area very special.  We stayed at the new and highly recommended Crooked House Farm B&B which was just a few miles down the road from the CDE. Janine, Charlie, Junior and Fred all made us feel very welcome.

I don't think weed eating is at the top of anyone's list of favorite things to do so for the first time ever really we paid someone to help us around the farm.  Two great guys that TJ works with showed up Saturday AM and with all three of them working they had the weed eating done in 3 hours!  I would have helped but I was told I was slow and there were not enough weed eaters to go around. Darn. What a relief to have the done and the place looks fabulous! Thanks guys!

Tonight while Googling bamboo roll-up blinds, I ended up searching for an online reseller of the sweet grass baskets made on the Georgia barrier island of Sapelo where I spent my early childhood years.  As the memories of my time on Sapelo resurfaced, I started to wonder what the other children of Sapelo were doing these days.  For those that read this, they are the memories of a child, so I am sure that I have some of the dates and details wrong.

This weekend on the new property we set over 1000 feet of fence and I have to say it's looking pretty good.  I wish I had taken pre-cleanup pictures to show just how junked up the corner lot was before we bought it.  There were cars, and boats, and trailers, and outbuildings, and stacks of tin, and tires, and a lovely single wide.   With a good contract and a bit of fiscal encouragement the sellers did a nice job of cleaning everything up before we took possession.  TJ then went through and tore out old fence rows and cleaned up trees and where the trailer sat.
