Round Bale Unroller

Woodsmith Farm Round Bale Unroller, made by TJ Woodcock after seeing a Worksaver Spinoff at a local tractor supply store.  We do not sell the unroller.  3 point hitch, hydraulic unroller with a neat chain protection system (one of my old rubber stall mats).

Darwin Weaning

Darwin was weaned today. Odessa and D. will be sharing a fence-line so hopefully things will not turn too crazy and over time they will move on. D. is out with Bluff and Will and Odessa is out with Emma, Dan and Toad. We will see how it goes.

Riverplains Farm-Boxing Day 2008

I was invited to the Dec. 26th Tennessee Valley Hunt Boxing Day at Riverplains Farm.  For anyone that knows me, I always worry about the animals, so I was pretty hesitiant to agree to a hunt.   After a lot of questions I learned that TVH hounds are bred for their voices instead of speed which means that are not usually fast enough to catch a fox or coyote.  I also gathered that the focus of the hunt is definitely not to injure anything, so I finally agreed to give it a try.  I would be riding Ritza, Rachel's CDE Fresian/Saddlebred mare in the third field (hilltoppers), which was to be led by Rachel.

Cannon Carriage Driving Center

Unfortunately the Middle Tennessee Carriage Club ADT was cancelled this year, and when Rachel found out she got on the phone and arranged a trip to the Cannon Carriage Driving Center which is the home of Elizabeth Keathley and Valhalla Farms.

Thanksgiving, Spivey, Darwin

Mom and Dad drove up for Thanksgiving. We had a good time eating, drinking and really appreciating family and how lucky we are.

TJ and I ran over to Shakertown for a ride/drive with Emma and Will on Friday for a Spokes and Spurs get together while Mom and Dad did a quick tour.  On Saturday we went back over to Shakertown and watched the Woodford Hounds Blessing of the Hounds.  While I am not keen on running around killing things for sport, the concept of the whole process based on it's origins is intriguing and to watch that many people follow a pack of dogs across a field is impressive.

Bluff Feeling Better

Bluff finally popped an abscess out of her coronary band.  TJ told me he saw it last night and said she was walking much better this morning.  I felt around her foot in the dark this morning and found the spot with the smell of an abscess confirming it had indeed popped.
